Anxiety!
A word that is commonly used but often misunderstood. We often hear things like “I feel so anxious today” or “the anxiety of dealing with this problem is making me sick” and while in some cases this may be an accurate description of one’s emotional state at the time, but living with anxiety daily is completely different.
Living with anxiety every day is the feeling of having too much energy or constantly fatigued. I like to say instead of having a “devil and angel” on your shoulder you have little “worry wart” nagging at you constantly. It is living with the fear that anything and everything will and can go wrong. It is the constant need to be analyzing anything and everything around the room so you can identify the “bad thing” that will happen and have an action plan for it.
When all is said and done in most scenarios, nothing of significance does happen, and you are left feeling exhausted and drained. In high functioning individuals, anxiety can look like overachieving or the constant need to please everyone.
In short, most people who do feel anxious or live with anxiety are very much aware of it, but it seems like nothing they try works to manage it. That’s where therapy comes in. We help you develop tools and skills to manage and regulate your anxiety. Let’s talk more in therapy? Reach out today at Simple Therapy.
